Green Day's Billie Joe Applauds McKenna Grace Ahead Of 'Nimrods' Release

This weekend, the pop punk legends Green Day were on site at SDCC to promote their upcoming feature film, Nimrods.
When speaking to press about the upcoming release, front man Billie Joe Armstrong admits he discovered McKenna Grace thanks to Ghostbusters!
"The first time I saw McKenna was in Ghostbusters.", says Armstrong. He continues by applauding Grace's role as Phoebe Spengler saying, "Man, she's cool! She would be cool for the movie."
Some time later, the Nimrods casting director added her to the film much to Armstrong's delight, "That's the girl I was talking about! So it was kind of a happy coincidence."
Nimrods is a coming-of-age comedy film following three teenage friends who embark on a chaotic cross-country road trip to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing their band has landed an opening slot for Green Day on New Year's Eve.
The first Green Day feature film, Nimrods is in theaters August 14, 2026.
